Zusammenfassung / Abstract
Der Artikel präsentiert die reichen Traditionen nächtlicher Gottesdienste und Gebete in den Schriften Aphrahats und Ephrems, das heißt in der Spiritualität und Liturgie der Klosterwelt des 4. Jahrhunderts in Syrien. Die wichtigste theologische Idee ist die Wachsamkeit Christi und der Engel, die von den Mönchen nachgeahmt wird. Wachsamkeit ist das Zeichen von Göttlichkeit und Erlösung, während Müdigkeit und Schlaf in die Sphäre von Tod und Sünde gehören.
„In the ministry of angels: The vigils in Syrian monarchism“. – The article presents the rich traditions of nightly services and prayers in the literature of Aphrahat and Ephrem, that is in the spirituality and liturgy of the monastic world of the 4th century in Syria. The main theological idea is the vigilance of Christ and the angels which is imitated by the monks. Vigilance is the sign of divinity and redemption, meanwhile tiredness and sleep belongs to the sphere of death and sin.
