Röm 8,2-4 steht quer zu einer thorakritischen Interpretation der paulinischen Gesetzeslehre. Anknüpfend an früheren Forschungen versucht diese Studie der anthropologischen Dimension in dieser Debatte mehr Ausdruck zu verleihen. Der anfällige Mensch unter der Herrschaft der Sünde ist nach Paulus der Grund, warum das Gesetz daran gescheitert ist, die Sünde im Fleisch zu verdammen (Röm 7,7-25). Die einmalige Intervention Gottes in Christus und das andauernde Wirken des Geistes im Leben der Christen eröffnen einen neuen eschatologischen Zeit-Raum, in dem das Gesetz seine Bedeutung beibehält.
Rom 8,2-4 is at odds with a Thora-critical interpretation of the Paulin conception of the Law. This study tries to make a particular feature of this debate and accentuates the role of the anthropology. Not the Law itself but the vulnerable human being under the reign of the sin was the cause for the failure described in 7,7-25. Following the intervention of God through Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit opens new perspectives of salvation in the life of the transformed Christians, without implying the abolition of the Law.
