Diese Arbeit untersucht die magischen Handlungen Elias in der Dürre-Erzählung (1Kön 17-18). Innerhalb dieser Erzählung liegt das Ziel der Magie Elias nicht darin, für die Grundbedürfnisse des Lebens zu sorgen, sondern die Macht seines Gottes JHWH nicht nur dem König, dem Volk, sondern auch außerhalb Israels aufzuzeigen, und so zu demonstrieren, dass sein Gott JHWH der einzige, wahre Gott ist. Der Akzent auf das Wort Gottes minimiert den magischen Charakter der „Magie“ Elias und vergrößert stattdessen die Macht Gottes.
This study examines Elijah’s magical acts within the drought narrative (1Kgs 17- 18). Within this narrative, Elijah does not perform magic in order to satisfy the basic needs of life, but rather to demonstrate the power of God YHWH to the king, to the people of the kingdom, and outside of Israel, and that his God YHWH is the only true God. An emphasis on God’s word minimizes the magical character of Elijah’s magic and intensifies God’s power.
