Jonadab verspricht seinen Nachkommen, dass sie lange Zeit in dem Land leben werden, in dem sie sich aufhalten, wenn sie seine Gebote einhalten (Jer 35,6-7). Nach dem Septuaginta-Vorlagetext ist das judäische Land gemeint, nach dem masoretischen Text aber Jerusalem. Während der Tradierung des längeren Jeremiatextes wurde hyl[ (= Septuaginta-Vorlage) durch ~v ersetzt. Es soll wahrscheinlich ausgedrückt werden, dass die Rechabiter auch in Jerusalem alle Gebote ihres Ahnherrn Jonadab einhalten sollten.
