Technology as Redemption – Transhumanism and its Religious Ambitions. The article describes the epistemological and anthropological core assumptions and religious elements of transhumanism. The mechanistic and mathematical description of human personality and mind results in the idea of reconstruction and optimization of the human being by means of technological enhancement. Transhumanism hence claims to offer the redemption of the fragile and imperfect constitution of humanity. Transcendence can be a dimension of hope and freedom for human existence. However, transhumanism is striving for the complete reification of transcendence, which would twist its original meaning upside down.
