«They Felt No Shame» (Gen 2:25). Shame and Infamy in the Old Testament. In the biblical tradition, the social concept of shame is defined in relation to God and is thus, to a certain extent, relativised in terms of its social function. It is linked to law and justice and to God’s revelation, as well as to the question of whether someone has incurred guilt or whether they are being wrongly condemned, discriminated against and shamed.
