Shame and Abomination. An African Discourse. The article examines shame and abomination in African contexts through literary examples from Chinua Achebe and Ferdinand Oyono. It distinguishes between personal or social shame and abomination as a form of social and religious condemnation. The analysis shows how violations of norms, origin or social status may lead to stigma and exclusion. Against this, the article sets a Christian anthropology that affirms the equal dignity of every human being, irrespective of origin or circumstances of life.
