Zwischen Sehnsucht und Kehlkopf. Die næfæš der Hebräischen Bibel als «Organ» des wahrgenommenen Defizits. Der Beitrag geht der Frage nach, ob und inwieweit der Begriff næfæš, einer der anthropologischen Schlüsselbegriffe der hebräischen Bibel, auch die menschliche Sehnsucht (nach Gott) als zentralen anthropologischen Faktor beschreiben und bezeichnen kann. Er untersucht zwei signifikante exemplarische Texte, Ps 42/43 und Ps 131, in denen næfæš als ‹Organ› eines unerfüllten menschlichen Strebens nach sozialer Integration und heilsamer Begegnung mit Gott (in Gemeinschaft) oder nach Erkenntnis des (zu) Großen und (zu) Wunderbaren dargestellt wird - interessanterweise jeweils ohne die Grundbedeutung des Begriffs næfæš, ‹Hals›, aufzugeben.
Between longing and larynx. The næfæš of the Hebrew Bible as an ‹organ› of the perceived deficit.The article addresses the question of whether and to what extent the term næfæš, one of the key anthropological terms of the Hebrew Bible, can also describe and denote human desire (for God) as a central anthropological factor. It examines two significant exemplary texts, Ps 42/43 and Ps 131, in which næfæš is presented as the ‹organ› of an unfulfilled human striving for social integration and a salvific encounter with God (in community) or for knowledge of the (too) great and (too) wonderful – interestingly, in each case without giving up the basic meaning of the term næfæš, ‹throat›.
