Flucht nach vorn. Der Transhumanismus und das Problem der Sehnsucht. Nach christlichem Glauben übersteigt das letzte Ziel, nach dem sich der Mensch sehnt, das Leben in Fülle, die Möglichkeiten unserer menschlichen Natur. Die menschliche Natur kann jedoch durch die Gnade vervollkommnet werden, die es uns ermöglicht, unsere Sehnsucht zu erfüllen. Man kann nun argumentieren, dass der Transhumanismus die Technologie als säkularen Ersatz für die Gnade betrachtet. In diesem Artikel zeige ich sowohl philosophisch als auch theologisch auf, warum er das Problem der Sehnsucht nicht «lösen» kann und wie wir dennoch etwas von seinem Versuch lernen könnten.
Fleeing Forward. Transhumanism and the solution to the problem of longing. According to Christian belief the ultimate end man longs for, life to the full, is beyond what our human nature is capable of. Human nature can however be perfected by grace that enables us to fulfil our longing. It can be argued that transhumanism sees technology as a secular substitute for grace. In this article I show both philosophically and theologically why it fails to «solve» the problem of longing and how we could yet learn something from its attempt.
