Film and Faith. A Panorama of Controversial Social Issues. Fiction makes an essential contribution to our understanding of reality. The illustrative power of fictional or fictionalised narratives is especially familiar to Christians, since parables are an essential part of Jesus’ proclamation. Moreover, cinematic fiction exerts a great emotional influence. It is therefore understandable that the discussion of morally sensitive issues nowadays takes place to a decisive extent on the big screen or on television. This paper is particularly concerned with the treatment of three areas – abortion, euthanasia and LGTBQ ideology – in film.
