“Art and charity in the magisterium of Cardinal Gabriele Paleotti, Archbishop of Bologna” – In the season following the Tridentine assembly, Cardinal Paleotti’s Discorso intorno alle imagini sacre e profane falls within those mediation texts between the conciliar legislation and pastoral practice. The work tends to bring out how and to what extent the manifestations of art can perform an effective action in supporting the tasks proper to the catholic Church, engaged in an intense reforming activity in the context of proclamation (preaching and catechesis), of liturgy and charity.
