Kaum wahrgenommen. Christliches Martyrium an der Peripherie. «Das Blut der Märtyrer ist der Same der Kirche». Bereits früh hielt man fest, dass es um ein Opfer der Liebe und Treue zu Jesus Christus gehe. Das öffentliche und bisweilen spektakuläre Moment sei nicht entscheidend. Neben dem „blutigen“ kennt die Kirche auch das „unblutige Martyrium“. Tatsächlich finden viele Lebenszeugnisse kaum Beachtung. Der Beitrag beschäftigt sich mit zwei aktuellen religionsübergreifenden Zeugnissen in Syrien (Paolo dall’Oglio SJ, ermordet 2013; Jacques Mourad) sowie mit Doppelzeugnis eines Ehepaares, Franz (hingerichtet 1943) und Franziska Jägerstätter (1913-2013).
Barely Noticed. Christian Martyrdom on the Periphery. «The blood of martyrs is the seed of the Church». It was recognised early on that this was a sacrifice of love and faithfulness to Jesus Christ. The public and sometimes spectacular aspect is not decisive. In addition to ‹bloody› martyrdom, the Church also recognises ‹bloodless martyrdom›. In fact, many testimonies of life receive little attention. This article deals with two current interfaith testimonies in Syria (Paolo dall'Oglio SJ, murdered in 2013; Jacques Mourad) and with the double testimony of a married couple, Franz (executed in 1943) and Franziska Jägerstätter (1913–2013).
