„A forgotten inscription by Theodor Heuss for Pope Pius XII. How did the German ‚donation of thanks‘ come about in the Roman Church of Sant’Eugenio?“ – In 1950, the Federal Republic of Germany created a foundation from which representative art gifts were financed to individuals and institutions abroad who had rendered outstanding help to the needy Germans after the war. Among them was a gift to Pope Pius XII, a mosaic that can still be seen today at the Church of Sant’Eugenio in Rome.
