Elizabeth Kanini Kimau: „Listening to the cry of the people“
Elizabeth Kanini Kimau is what you can call a “peacemaker”. Almost 15 years ago, she went to the North of Kenya to do research on the conflict between different ethnic groups there. She stayed and became an agent of change in the conflict between the tribes Rendille and Borana: by teaching children, raising awareness about the roots of violence and slowly changing the minds of young people. She planted “seeds of peace” as she calls it and helps the tribes to work for their own peace. In an interview with Amosinternational, Elizabeth Kanini Kimau told us how she creates peace with warriors, why the efforts of NGOs often have no long-lasting impact, how climate change affects the school education of girls and what future projects she has planned.
