Kai-Uwe Schablon: The Social Space Concept Community Care. Possibilities of Church Committment for the Inclusion of Peope with Disabilities
The concept of „Community Care“ aims at the creation of structures that enable a better integration of people with disabilities into society. This is based on the desire that all people can live a fully integrated life with equal rights and duties in their communities as they wish. „Community Care“ is a counter-concept for a primarily institution-oriented method of care and changes the relevant hierarchies: Those in need receive the necessary support from private networks, from families and friends. Regular providers and professional staff are in this concept only second or third in line. Thus, it becomes evident that churches will have a considerable signifi cance in the implementation of the Community Care approach.

Le concept d’action de Community Care a pour objectif de créer des structures susceptibles de mieux intégrer dans la communauté des personnes ayant un handicap. A l’origine, il y a l’intention d’assurer que tous les hommes, munis des mêmes droits et devoirs, peuvent mener, dans leur communauté, une vie autonome ou intégrée selon leurs aspirations. Community Care est un modèle opposé à des prestations d’assistance axées en premier lieu sur des institutions. Il change les hiérarchies en question. Les nécessiteux reçoivent l’assistance requise par l’intermédiaire de réseaux privés, de familles et de cercles d’amis. Dans cette conception, les prestataires réguliers et les professionnels d’assistance passent au second ou troisème plan. Cela montre la grande importance qu’ont les paroisses dans la réalisation du concept de Community Care.
