Wolf-Gero Reichert: Politically Regulate the Financial Markets! On the Considerations regarding the Financial Market Crises from a Social Ethicist’s View
If one was interested in ethics of financial markets, he will be disappointed by the encyclical “Caritas in Veritate”, since is does not deal systematically with the financial crisis. The few thoughts on the regulation of international financial markets step back behind the abstract reflections on love within the truth. However, the encyclical keeps us alert to the fact, that the system of fi nancial markets has to be reformed – and that the system is reformable in principle.

Celui qui s‘intéresse à l‘éthique des marchés fi nanciers est déçu par l‘encyclique « Caritas in veritate » car elle n’aborde pas la question de la crise fi nancière de façon systématique. Les quelques fragments de pensée relatifs à l‘ordre des marchés fi nanciers internationaux ne tiennent que peu de place par rapport aux réfl exions abstraites et vagues sur l‘amour dans la vérité. Néanmoins, l‘encyclique entretient l’idée qu’une réforme des marchés financiers est indispensable et que cette réforme est fondamentalement possible.
