Lukas Schmitt: Renaissance of Borders and Inflation of Walls in a Globalised World. Socio-Ethical Comments from a Justice Theory Perspective
While in the period after 1989, it seemed as if borders were increasingly obsolete and divisions between states were overcome by walled borders, for some years now borders have been increasingly in the public consciousness again and interstate walls are on the rise globally. Recognizing that the analysis of a global phenomenon within a limited framework will ultimately always remain imprecise, this article will nevertheless attempt to trace this global trend and to describe and understand the shape of contemporary borders in their development from borderlines to border areas in more detail. Finally, the selective effects of current borders will be problematized from the perspective of global justice and the right of societies to demarcation will be questioned.
Lukas Schmitt : Renaissance des frontières et inflation des murs dans un monde globalisé. Remarques d’éthique sociale dans la perspective de la théorie de la justice
Alors qu’après 1989, des frontières semblaient de plus en plus obsolètes et que les murs séparant des Etats semblaient abaissés, on observe dans le public, depuis quelques années, un intérêt accru pour des frontières ainsi qu’un multiplication de murs à l’échelle mondiale. Tout en reconnaissant que l’analyse d’un phénomène global dans un cadre limité restera en fin de compte toujours floue, l’article tente d’examiner cette tendance mondiale, de décrire et de comprendre plus en détail la forme des frontières actuelles et leur évolution à partir de lignes de démarcation jusqu’à des espaces frontaliers. Enfin, les effets séléctifs des frontières actuelles sont mis en question dans une perspective de justice globale ainsi que le droit des sociétés à la délimitation.
