Matthias Möhring-Hesse: “Best Politics” in Dialogical Coexistence. On the Theory of Politics and Society in the Social Encyclical Fratelli tutti
Officially, a social encyclical on universal fraternity and social friendship, Fratelli tutti is first and foremost an urgent plea for dialogical politics: only the “best politics in the service of the true common good” (No. 154) can solve the great distortions of this world. To this end, the creative and integrative potentials of dialogical politics should be released. But is the “theory” of social integration and “political charity” offered in the social encyclical suitable to orient such a policy?

Etant, selon l’interprétation officielle, une encyclique sociale sur la fraternité universelle et l’amitié sociale, Fratelli tutti est d’abord un plaidoyer insistant pour une politique de dialogue. Seule « la meilleure politique au service du vrai bien commun » (§ 154) peut résoudre les grandes distorsions de ce monde. A cette fin, il faut libérer les potentiels créatifs et intégratifs d’une politique de dialogue. Cependant, la « théorie » de l’intégration sociale et de la charité sociale proposée dans l’encyclique est-elle apte à orienter une telle politique ?
