Ute Scheub: Empowerment and Future of the Democracy
Democratic self-determination and participation is practically a physical and emotional basic need. It has to do with the human voice and wish for response and connection. The usual fixation on electoral democracy over here does not satisfy those wishes. In order to save the endangered democracy, it should be added participatory and direct types. Such types are suitable for all levels, from small villages to the EU.

L’autodétermination et la codécision démocratiques sont des besoins fondamentaux voire physiques et affectifs. Ils renvoient à la voix humaine et au désir de résonnance et de relation. La fixation sur la démocratie électorale, qui est habituelle dans nos pays, n’y répond pas. Si l’on veut sauver la démocratie menacée, il faudrait la compléter par des formes participatives et directes. Des exemples montrent que de tels formats conviennent à tous les niveaux, du petit village à l’UE.
