Sozialkatholizismus in den Niederlanden: Eine Minderheit auf dem langen Weg der Emanzipation

Das Geschick der niederländischen katholischen Kirche in den letzten eineinhalb Jahrhunderten lässt sich am Beispiel des Sozialkatholizismus trefflich veranschaulichen. Einerseits geht es dieser Spielart des Katholizismus um die reflexive Verantwortung im Hinhören auf die „Zeichen der Zeit“. Andererseits hat sie auch die praktische Umsetzung eines normativen Gesellschaftsideals im Blick. Sie bildet in folgender Übersicht den Leitfaden, anhand dessen sich zahlreiche kirchliche Initiativen und Einrichtungen in den Niederlanden beleuchten lassen. Das Augenmerk liegt dabei vor allem auf der Entwicklung während der zweiten Hälfte des 19. und während des gesamten 20 Jahrhunderts. Schließlich soll erkundet werden, ob und in welcher Form sozialkatholischen Vorstellungen im gegenwärtigen Umfeld noch Gehör verschafft werden kann.

The fate of the Dutch Catholic Church over the last one and a half centuries can be very well demonstrated by he example of social catholicism. On the onehand this variant of catholicism deals with the refl exive responsibility in listening to the “signs of the times”. On the other hand, it has the practical implementation of a normative social ideal in view. In the following survey, it provides the guideline for an assessment of church initiatives and institutions in the Netherlands. The focus is mainly on the development during the second half of the 19th and the entire 20th centuries. Finally, it is being investigated whether social catholic views are being made audible in today’s setting.

L‘exemple du catholicisme social peut parfeitement illustrer le sort de l‘Eglise catholique aux Pays-Bas dans les 150 ans passés. D‘une part, cette variante du catholicisme tient à une responsabilité réfléchie dans l’écoute des » signes des temps «. D‘autre part, elle a en vue la mise en oeuvre d’un idéal sociétal normatif. Dans cet aperçu, elle sert de guide pour éclairer toutes sortes d’initiatives et d’institutions d‘Eglise aux Pays-Bas. L‘attention particulière se porte sur l’evolution pendant la deuxième moitié du 19ième siècle et tout au long du 20ième siècle. En conclusion, l’objectif est d’explorer, si et sous quelle forme, dans les circonstances d’aujourd’hui, les idées du catholicisme social pourraient trouver une audience.
