“We’ve got Worldwide Dramatic Changes in Gender Relation”. Interview with Margareta Grube OSF on the role of women in biblical times and today
How egalitarian was the relation between men and women in the early Christian communities? Why are women not in the foreground of biblical texts? What changes are there today in the actual relationship between genders in society and the church? How does Christianity and the Western countries stand as compared to other cultures and religions? Can equality as a fundamental right be generally implemented? How has the situation of women in the turmoil-stricken countries of the Near East changed? How can the relationship between secular and religious impulses for free selfdetermination of women and men be assessed? On the basis of these and other questions Sister Margareta Gruber, Franciscan and biblical scholar, explores the potential that results from the liberation and equality of women, whether in Germany or the Near East, whether in the context of religion or society.
