<p lang"="en'">Digital Media Society – Sustainable Energy Supply – Equal Opportunities Society. Three Current Discussion Papers
on the German Bishops‘ Conference – presented and commented on by Axel Bohmeyer und Christian Spieß During the recent weeks two commissions of the German Bishops‘ Conference have presented three discussion papers. Of particular signifi cance of the socialethical discourse should be the one on “Equal Opportunities Society. Guideline for a liberal order”, published on 27 June 2011. Responsible for it is the commission for societal and social issues of the German Bishops‘ Conference. It contains an up to date defi nition of social ethics – fourteen years after the ecumenical social paper “For a future in solidarity and justice” and after two highly contentious statements in between. The same commission published an environmental-ethical discussion paper aimed at a sustainable supply of energy. Moreover, the media commission of the Conference have issued a media-ethical discussion paper directed towards the uses of the internet. These two papers are related to earlier texts but also address new important issues.

Au cours de la semaine passée, deux commissions de la Conférence épiscopale ont présenté trois documents. Parmi eux, celui paru le 27 juin 2011, intitulé « Chancengerechte Gesellschaft », image normative d’un ordre social basé sur la liberté « paraît être d’une importance particulière pour le débat éthico-social. Ce texte fut élaboré par la Commission des questions sociales de la Conférence épiscopale. Il fait le point sur les positions actuelles en matière d’éthique sociale, quatorze ans après la déclaration oecuménique « Pour un avenir dans la solidarité et la justice » et après deux prises de position très controversées, parus entretemps. Sur le plan de l’éthique environnementale, la même commission a publié un texte qui traite de l’approvisionnement en énergie durable. En ce qui concerne l’éthique des médias, la Commission pour les médias vient de sortir un papier qui concerne en particulier l’Internet. Ces deux textes en chaînent sur des documents antérieurs, mais apportent aussi d’importants points de vue nouveaux.
