Notwendigkeit und Schwierigkeit authentischen Erinnerns: Zum Umgang mit der Last jüngster Vergangenheit

Zwanzig Jahre nach dem Mauerfall, siebzig Jahre nach dem Beginn des Zweiten Weltkriegs ist die Frage, wie man diesen Ereignissen und ihren Folgen im individuellen wie kollektiven Gedächtnis gerecht werden kann, erneut Gegenstand politischer Auseinandersetzungen. Insbesondere besteht die Gefahr, dass unterschiedliche, sich tendenziell ausschließende Narrative zur Relativierung wesentlicher politischer und moralischer Gehalte beitragen. Es gilt aber, diese in Formen angemessenen kollektiven Erinnerns festzuhalten. Der Erinnerungsdiskurs verweist darüber hinaus auf die Aufgabe, die Situation derjenigen, die unter den Folgen von Systemunrecht bis heute zu leiden haben, zu lindern, vor allem, sie in die Suche nach gemeinsamem, authentischen Erinnern aktiv einzubeziehen. Schließlich stellt sich die Frage, wie und in welchen Grenzen angesichts von massenhaften Verbrechen und ihren Auswirkungen die Rede von Versöhnung möglich und sinnvoll wird.

Thomas Hoppe: Necessity and Diffi culty of Authentic Recollection. Dealing with our Most Recent Past
Twenty years after the fall of the wall, seventy years after the beginning of World War II the question of how one can do justice to these events and their results in the both the individual and the collective memories is again the topic of political dissent. There is the particular risk that different, mutually exclusive narratives contribute to the relativization of essential political and moral issues. It is important, however, to keep these in an adaequate manner of collective recollection. Moreover, the memory discourse points towards the task to alleviate the situation of those who suffered from the injustice of systems to this day, and most of all to actively incorporate it into the joint, authentic recollection. Finally there is the question how and within what limits talking about reconciliation is possible and sensible in view of the copious crimes and their effects.

Vingt ans après la chute du mur et soixante dix ans après le commencement de la deuxième guerre mondiale, comment répondre de façon appropriée, à ces évènements et leurs conséquences dans la mémoire individuelle et collective? Cette question fait à nouveau l’objet de débats politiques. Est souligné le danger, que les différents récits qui ont tendance à se contredire, contribuent à relativiser l’essentiel des contenus et moraux. Mais il faut bien préserver ceux-ci en trouvant des formes d’une mémoire collective adéquate. De plus, le travail de mémoire renvoie à la tâche de soulager la situation de ceux qui, jusqu’à ce jour, souffrent des conséquences des injustices subies par le système, et surtout de les associer à la recherche d’une mémoire collective authentique. Face à des crimes massifs et aux conséquences qu’ils ont eues, se pose fi nalement la question de savoir, comment et dans quelles limites il est possible et pertinent de parler de réconciliation.
