Stanisław Fel: Social Ethics in Poland – History and Current Importance
Social teaching by the Catholic Church today still has a strong impact in Polish society and politics. In the background there is a continuous and comprehensive tradition of social-ethical teaching and research which was not interrupted even during the decades following World War II. Mr. Fel in his report outlines the history, the institutions and the current infl uence of ecclesiastical social teaching in a former “Eastern Block Country” which in this respect always has been an exception.

’enseignement et la doctrine sociale de l’Eglise catholique ont, jusqu’à ce jour, une grande importance dans la société et dans la vie politique en Pologne : conséquence d’une tradition continue et riche dans le domaine de la doctrine et de la recherche en matière d’éthique sociale. Stanisław Fel esquisse l’histoire, les institutions et l’infl uence actuelle de la doctrine sociale de l’Eglise dans un pays de l’ancien bloc de l’Est qui, de ce point de vue, a toujours été une exception.
