Abstract
In the present article the discourse of legality and legitimacy or about the legitimacy of the modern times shall be flanked by an alternative description: The modern society can be described by Narratives of non-violence. This Narrative means a complicated field which cannot be reduced to one social area, but leads to sociocultural, juridical, and political self-descriptions. It has philosophical and juridical dimensions which, however, cannot be transferred to political levels, but can produce a specific self-relation in which violence remains as a reality.
